One step closer to a resolution for a family that has said multiple times they have been waiting for justice.

Just as his trial was set to get underway, Gurjinder “Gary” Dhaliwal has entered a guilty plea to a charge of second degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend, SFU student Maple Batalia.

The Crown is asking for a life sentence with no parole for 10 to 25 years for Dhaliwal.

He is expected to be sentenced Monday.
