Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services says more than one person is in hospital after an early Tuesday morning fire at an apartment complex.

More than 100 people are out of their homes, located on the 1100 block of Pacific Street, watching officials put out the blaze.

Some people also had to be rescued from the building.

Buses are coming to keep residents warm, some of whom are standing on the chilly streets dressed in only their housecoats.

Fire investigators are canvassing that crowd, asking to speak to anybody who lived on the fourth floor.

No word yet on a cause.

Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services says it will be closing off Thurlow to Bute, and Harwood to Pacific as it tries to get the scene under control.
