So You Think You Can Dance Live Tour

  • What: Dancing hits a high note with the So You Think You Can Dance Live Tour that hits Vancouver in January. Unbelievable dance moves, reality television stars, and bumping music make for one fun night.
  • Where: Queen Elizabeth Theatre – 649 Cambie Street, Vancouver
  • When: Friday, January 8; 8 p.m.

BrainStation Community Social

  • What: Are you interested in building you digital skills for 2016? We invite you to join us at our January Community Social! What better way to spend a Friday evening than with drinks, food and networking with like-minded tech lovers? The BrainStation team is excited to spend an evening with new and familiar faces to provide you with more information about the courses we are offering, and ask any questions that you have about BrainStation.

Nat Bailey Stadium

  • What: Each week you can look forward to finding locally grown vegetables and fruit, meat and seafood from local ranchers and fishermen, artisan cheese and bread, herbs and seasonal nursery items, baked goods, prepared foods and artisanal craft.
  • Where: Nat Bailey Stadium – 4601 Ontario Street, Vancouver
  • When: Saturday, November 7 to Saturday, April 23 (Every Saturday); 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Richmond Olympic Oval Experience

  • What: At the Richmond Olympic Experience, you and your family and friends can compete on over a dozen world-class sport simulators and fun interactive challenges. The ROX is billed as the most interactive sport attraction in North America for a reason.
  • Where: Richmond Olympic Oval –  6111 River Road, Richmond
  • When: Open Tuesdays to Sundays

Vancouver Canucks v.s. Tampa Bay Lightning

  • Where: Rogers Arena – 800 Griffiths Way, Vancouver
  • When: Saturday, January 9; 7 p.m.

Heathers The Musical

  • What: Equal parts social commentary and psycho thriller, Heathers the Musical arrives in Canada next month with guilt-free mayhem. Heathers The Musical is the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer (Christine Quintana), a brainy, teenage misfit who never dreamed of getting in the most popular and cruel clique at high school. But she did. She also never dreamed of dating the dark and mystery new kid at her school. But she did. And she certainly never dream of killing anyone. But she kind of did.

  • When: Wednesday, January 6 to 17

Hastings Park

  • What: After a successful trial season last year, we’re excited to return to Hastings Park for a full winter season! We were welcomed and supported by the local community with dedicated Vancouver Farmers Markets shoppers from all over the Lower Mainland. Located within a thriving community close to the highway and the Second Narrows Bridge, the Hastings Park Farmers Market is a perfect place to stop and shop.
  • Where: Hastings Skate Park – Renfrew Street, Vancouver
  • When: Sunday, November 8th to Sunday, May 1st (Closed Dec. 27); 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

White Rock Winter Market

  • What: The White Rock Farmers’ Market will run nine winter markets this year, which will feature a range of vendor produced goods, including fresh fruits and veggies, with an en emphasis on locally-grown farm produce. Also available at the market are baked and organic goods, artisan cheeses and breads, condiments and preserves, and fair trade coffee.
  • Where: Elks Hall, 1469 George Street, White Rock
  • When: October 18 to December 18, Sundays; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

No Pants Skytrain Ride 2016

  • What: The No Pants Skytrain Ride is an annual global event started by Improv Everywhere in New York in 2002. The mission is simple: you ride the Skytrain with no pants.
  • Where: TBA
  • When: Sunday, January 10; 2:30 p.m.

Ice Skating at Robson Square

  • What: The rink at Robson Square is operated seasonally by the provincial government when the temperatures begin to dip, running from morning into the late evening hours. Skaters can skate for free if they bring their own skates while those without skates can rent a pair on-site. There is also a concession stand serving snacks and warm drinks.
  • Where: 800 Robson Street, Vancouver (Robson & Howe)
  • When: December 1, 2015 until February 28, 2016; times vary

Golden Globe Awards 2016 at the Rio

  • What: The Rio Theatre will be broadcasting this weekend’s 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, and movie and television fans are welcome to attend for free. The 19+ event will be licensed with bar service and will offer trivia and costume contests during commercial breaks. Doors open at 4 p.m. and the show starts at 5.
  • Where: The Rio Theatre – 1660 East Broadway, Vancouver
  • When: Sunday, January 10; 4 p.m.
