Sunday suppers are a time-honoured tradition, and there are a few noteworthy Vancouver restaurants upholding the practice of bringing people together to sup on plates of comforting fare in the spirit of family.
Whether it’s by the plate, or lobster by the pound, or served up at communal tables, here are four Vancouver restaurants offering special Sunday suppers.
Every Sunday The Fat Badger serves a Sunday Roast, a dinner tradition direct from the UK. Sunday Roast dinners can be enjoyed by one guest, or shared by a large group. The roasts are served as plate per person and pricing is dependent on the cut of meat, ranging from $20 to $30. Like the rest of Fat Badger’s menu, the Sunday roast is only announced on the menu in house and on their Instagram account, so keep an eye out for what’s being dished up each week. Past menus have included chicken with duck fat roasted potatoes, Brussels sprouts, carrots, and gravy or leg of lamb, duck fat roasted potatoes, carrot puree, wilted greens, chanterelles, and piquillo peppers.

Sunday Lobster Supper at WildTale
Head to Yaletown’s WildTale Coastal Grill to indulge in their weekly lobster-centric feats. Their Sunday Lobster Supper is a maritime experience near and dear to WildTale’s proprietors, so they put on quite the spread: Classic Seafood Chowder, Steamed PEI Mussels, Farmers Salads, Fresh Steamed Lobster (pre-order 1 pound or 1.5 pound lobster), and choice of dessert. Dinner is $50 for those ordering a 1 pound lobster, and $60 for those “super sizing” their crustacean to 1.5 pounds. You’ll need to make a reservation, so you can pre-order the lobster. Dinner starts at 4 p.m.

Family Supper Series at La Pentola
Sunday dinners at La Pentola put the focus on family, or at least family-style eating, as the delectable Italian fare is served to guests sitting down at a communal table. The multi-course meals happen on the last Sunday of each month, and are at 6 p.m. In the past, these highly coveted dinners have showcased exciting mains like whole lamb or pig roasts, as well as La Pentola’s signature pastas, salads, and more. Reservations required.

Sunday Roast at The Cascade Room
Head to The Cascade Room Sunday nights for their “feature roast with all the trimmings.” Often it’s a roast beef dinner with sides like potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, and gravy. The meal is $18 per person.
