You might be surprised to find that Vancouver is home to one of the largest ports in Canada, which is good news for those looking to start a career in International Trade.
Right now Vancouver handles 2.9 million TEUs (20-foot equivalent unit cargo containers) that’s way more than Montreal (1.3 million) with Prince Rupert and Halifax following close behind.
Overall, there are 98,800 Canadian jobs with 50% of Canada’s container cargo going through Vancouver. Cargo creates $9.7 billion in GDP across Canada with $6.1 billion in wages and a whopping $20.3 billion in economic output.
But that’s enough numbers for now, instead here are just five reasons for why International Trade makes a great career:
1. You’ll receive highly competitive wages
2. Lots of work available in major cities
3. The industry is stable and secure
4. You’ll find a range of career paths
5. The industry is still growing with a high demand
