An Air Canada flight bound for Vancouver International Airport has made an emergency landing in Toronto this Friday evening after it experienced a sudden rapid drop in altitude.
The Airbus A319 aircraft, Flight 549, departed New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport at approximately 6:22 p.m. ET. Shortly after taking off, the aircraft experienced air pressure issues, prompting pilots to take the plane from 34,000 feet to 10,000 feet – a descent of 24,000 feet in just six minutes.
According to Flight Aware’s data, it landed safely at Pearson International Airport in Toronto at 7:57 p.m. ET. No injuries have been reported.
A photo on Twitter posted by a passenger shows the deployment of oxygen masks on the aircraft. No comment has been provided by Air Canada at this time.
