An organization in New Westminster wants to help men suit up so they can land a job.
Much like Dress for Success does for women, Working Man’s Closet helps low income men get professional looking clothes like dress shirts and pants for job interviews.
Coordinator Mike Bourke told Vancity Buzz he started the organization after noticing there was a charitable gap that needed to be filled.
“It can be very difficult for people to get funds to conduct a job search in terms of having appropriate interview attire,” he said.
“There are resources available for when people start their jobs, but it can be harder to set yourself up to conduct that job search with appropriate clothing.”
So far, Bourke says the organization successfully helped one client who walked into a job interview wearing a Working Man’s Closet suit and walked out with the job.
It’s been roughly two months since Working Man’s Closet launched and they’re hoping to kick it into high gear in January. Bourke said they are looking to help anyone who needs professional clothing to land a job.
