Woman violently attacked near East Vancouver park

Local authorities are hoping for the public’s help after a woman was violently attacked in East Vancouver during the early morning hours of Wednesday.

According to Vancouver Police, the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. when the woman was walking northbound near the intersection of Rupert and Kitchener streets, just by Rupert Park.

“The woman was hit multiple times, choked and kicked before she was able to fight back with her umbrella and run away,” reads a statement by police. “She suffered injuries to her head, neck and arms and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.”

Police do not know why she was attacked, the motive is currently unknown.

The male suspect is described as Caucasian, in his 30s, 5’8″ tall with a skinny build, brown hair and blonde stubble. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a black baseball cap, a green jacket with a letter “B” varsity logo, and work boots.
