Winnipeg man arrested in Vancouver for murder of teenage girl

Winnipeg police are saying a man was arrested in Vancouver on December 9 in connection with the murder of a teenage girl.

Fifty-three-year-old Raymond Joseph Cormier, who’s from Winnipeg, is being transported back to the city. He’s charged with second degree murder in the death of 15-year-old Tina Fontaine whose body was recovered from the Red River in Winnipeg on August 17, 2014.

Fontaine was reported missing on August 9 of 2014 and was last seen in downtown Winnipeg on August 8.

Winnipeg police say assistance from the public allowed the Homicide Unit to nab the suspect.
