Where to go tubing and tobogganing in and around Vancouver

If you’ve never gone snow tubing, you’re missing out on one of the easiest and most fun winter activities in Vancouver. With skiing and boarding getting all of the attention, people often forget about tubing which is a less expensive and more accessible activity for kids and adults looking for a shot of adrenaline up on the alpine.

Most tubing parks have lifts, or give you the option to get the cardio and hike back up, but the thrill is all about the ride down. Perched on top the tube, riders glide quickly, spinning out of control before eventually coming to a sudden stop at the bottom of the run.

Sea to Sky Gondola

The Tube Park

  • Info: Four lanes of varying sliding levels, walk back up the hill (no tube tow available).
  • Cost: $5 per person plus price of gondola ticket ($12 to $34)
  • Hours: Daily from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., pending weather conditions
  • Restrictions: No outside toboggans, mats, or sliding devices allowed in tube park. Tube rentals are included with ticket. Participants must be at least 42-inches tall. Proper footwear is encouraged.

Cypress Mountain

Snow Tube Park

  • Info: Six chutes roughly 100m in length with a tube tow back up to the top
  • Cost: $20 per person for two hours
  • Hours: Now until January 3, 2016; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Restrictions: Participants must be at least 42-inches tall, participants under age 10 must be accompanied by a paying adult

Sliding Area

  • Info: Gentle slope of four metres elevation drop over 25 metres in length. Walk back up to the top.
  • Cost: $10 for two hours
  • Hours: Daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Restrictions: Designed for children under age six. Bring your own sled or purchase a sliding mat

Mount Seymour

The North Shore News Snow Tube Park

  • Info: Features a tube tow back up the hill
  • Cost: Holidays and weekends: $22 for two hours ($10 for one extra hour), Standard rate: $20 for two hours ($10 for one extra hour)
  • Hours: Currently closed (weather dependent)
  • Restrictions: Participants must be 48-inches or taller, ski boots are not allowed

The Toboggan Park

  • Info: Bring your own toboggan or purchase a sliding mat for $10
  • Cost: Holidays and weekends up to Feb 22: $12 per person, Standard rate: $10 per person – children under age three are free
  • Hours: Currently closed (weather dependent)
  • Restrictions: No height restrictions, all ages
