Vancouver Police have issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for Cameron Leon, a high risk offender who served time for assault causing bodily harm and sexual assault causing bodily harm.
Leon, 22 years old, failed to return to his halfway house in Vancouver on Monday night as required by his release’s conditions. He is currently on statutory release serving a two-year federal sentence.
He is described by police as Aboriginal, 5’11” tall, 195 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, prescription glasses, and tattoos of “Leon” on his right hand and a cross and wings on his upper back.
Leon was last seen wearing a grey hoodie featuring a “Puma” logo, dark pants, white shoes and a black backpack.
He was convicted in Supreme Court in August 2014 for raping a woman and repeatedly punching her in a Chilliwack alley in 2012. The judge handed down a two-year jail sentence with three years of probation for the sexual assault and one year in jail and three years on probation for the physical assault.
The victim took three weeks to heal from the physical injuries association with the sexual assault and one month to heal from the physical assault.
This was not the first time Leon was charged with sexual assault. He was previously accused in 2011 for sexually touching someone under the age of 16.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Cameron Leon, or who sees him, is asked not to approach him and to call 9-1-1 immediately.
