The Vancouver Giants are expected to get a big boost tomorrow night as their captain and 2016 NHL Entry Draft top prospect, Tyler Benson, makes his return to the lineup.

The Edmonton native hasn’t suited up for the Giants this year after undergoing surgery to repair a lower body ailment. Ranked 21st in Craig Button’s recent 2016 NHL Draft rankings, Benson will look to build on last season where he put up 45 points (14-31-45) in 62 games. He was ranked higher before the season begun, but being unable to suit up for any games so far this season has caused him to slide slightly. Benson can quickly get back into the conversation as a top-10 pick with a quick start to his season.

There won’t be an easing in period for Benson as the Giants welcome the U.S. Division-leading Seattle Thunderbirds and Coquitlam native Matthew Barzal to the Pacific Coliseum tomorrow. Barzal had a similar path leading up to the draft last year, being limited to 44 games due to a knee injury. He returned to the Thunderbirds lineup last year and made an impact quickly with 57 points before being selected 16th overall by the New York Islanders at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

The Vancouver Giants have been a bit of slump, losing five of their last six games, so the addition of Benson should give them a boost.

Canucks prospect Tate Olson and the Prince George Cougars are in town on Sunday at 2:00 pm for Joe Carter night at the Pacific Coliseum.
