Halloween is this weekend, but many of you might still be wondering what to do. Maybe you want to do something ghastly and scary, or maybe you want to do something family friendly – either way, here are 22 things to do this Halloween weekend in Vancouver.

Haunted Village at Burnaby Village Museum

  • What: Everyone’s favourite Metro Vancouver heritage museum, the Burnaby Village Museum, is opening its doors for a haunted jaunt down memory lane. Children will get to go trick-or-treating throughout the village, while the spooked-up carousel will offer festive fun for all the family.
  • Where: Burnaby Village Museum – 6501 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby
  • When: Wednesday October 28 to Friday October 30; 6 to 9 p.m.

The Pumpkin Patch at Richmond Country Farms

  • What: Admission to the pumpkin patch at Richmond Country Farms, includes live entertainment, a wagon ride, a pumpkin (child size), a visit to the animal farm, and a Spartan apple to munch upon.
  • Where: 12900 Steveston Highway, Richmond
  • When: Open from October 3 to October 31. Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Halloween Drive-In Movies Vancouver

  • What: Fresh Air Cinema brings the scream, shriek and shiver at the return of Canada’s only Halloween Drive-In movie series at Wesgroup’s River District in South Vancouver. Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas  and The Lost Boys  will be screening Friday night.
  • Where: 3650 East Kent Street South (half block south of Boundary and SE Marine Drive)
  • When: Friday, October 30; 6 p.m. till late

Haunted Halloween Skate

  • What: There are no shortage of skating events tonight. Come to the Richmond Olympic Oval for a late night athletic event. A costume contest, pumpkin carving, and prizes ensures this party will have something for everyone.
  • Where: Richmond Olympic Oval – 6111 River Road, Richmond
  • When: Friday, October 30; 8 to 9:45 p.m.

VSO Halloween Spectacular

  • What: Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is all about the Halloween shenanigans, and this year the VSO will be producing an eerie compilation of film soundtracks and other haunting songs in celebration of the spooky season. The VSO Halloween Spectacular concert will include live symphony renditions of songs like Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, John William’s beautiful scores for Harry Potter, ET and others.
  • Where: Orpheum Theatre – 601 Smithe Street, Vancouver
  • When: Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31; 8 p.m.

Lost Souls of Gastown

  • What: Lost souls of Gastown takes you through the sordid and terrifying history of some of Vancouver’s most notorious figures. From Gassy Jack Deighton: bar owner and mogul of the early city; to John Bray, who took three bullets to the head before dying two weeks later, and whose ghost is said to haunt Water Street.
  • Where: Leaves from Cathedral Square, across from Holy Rosary Cathedral
  • When: October 15 to 31; Starts at 8 p.m.

Fright Nights at the PNE

  • What: Be prepared to get scared at the largest and spookiest Halloween event for grown-ups in Western Canada. Fright Nights at Playland returns for another year on October 9 with seven terrifying haunted houses and 15 rides that will leave you trembling.
  • Where: Playland at the PNE – 2901 East Hastings Street, Vancouver
  • When: Friday, October 9 to Sunday, November 1; various times.

Haunted Vancouver Trolley Tour

  • What: Vancouver is one of the most haunted places in B.C., and you can hear all about it on this spooky carriage tour. The Babes in the Wood, the Lady in Red, even the Vancouver Morgue – they all have their stories and they’re all going to scare you.
  • Where: Leaves from Canada Place – 999 Canada Place, Vancouver
  • When: October 14 to 31 (excluding Sundays and Mondays); 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Murder Mystery Night at the Belmont

  • What: Featuring special guests DJs, tonight is the night to dress up and dance all your murderous tendencies away.  All guests will receive a complimentary treat from Beefeater before 9pm.  There will be a prize giveaway for the best costume!
  • Where: The Belmont – 1006 Granville Street, Vancouver
  • When: Friday, October 30; 7 p.m.

Halloween Howler Club Crawl

  • What: The Student Tours Halloween ‘Howler’ Club Crawl is back for 2015. Priding itself on being the biggest, best, and most notorious Halloween party of the year; this hotly-anticipated event is sure to bewitch costumed partygoers as they strut their stuff all over the city.
  • When: Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31; doors open at 6 p.m.
  • Where: Various locations

Halloween: All Hallows Eve Masquerade

  • What: Highlights of the night include: DJ Ollie Plé, a dance floor all night long, two large bars, tarot card booth, light appies. Photo opportunities galore.
  • Where: Imperial Theatre – 319 Main Street, Vancouver
  • When: Friday, October 30; 7 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Halloween at Lonsdale Quay

  • What: Halloween at Lonsdale Quay takes place on Saturday, October 31 and will give kids a chance to get dressed up in advance of the evening’s trick-or-treating festivities. The second-floor retail level near the children’s ballroom will transform into a spooky Halloween haunt, complete with a story time, crafts and pumpkin decorating, trick-or-treating and face painting.
  • Where: Lonsdale Quay (retail level) – 123 Carrie Cates Court, North Vancouver
  • When: Saturday, October 31; noon to 4 p.m.

16th Annual Trick Or Treat in Yaletown

  • What: Various Yaletown businesses will be handing out treats for all the neighbourhood kids from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye open for the spidey posters in their windows – these businesses will be handing out Halloween goodies.
  • Where: Various locations. See map above for participating areas – and keep an eye for spider stickers in the windows of businesses.
  • When: Saturday, October 31; 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Chilliwack Corn Maze

  • What: The Chillwack Corn Maze has a unique design this year: A Terry Fox silhouette to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Marathon for Hope. All along the maze, you’ll encounter Terry Fox trivia designed to point you in the right direction.
  • Where: 41905 Yale Road West, Chilliwack
  • When: Now until October 31: Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sundays and holidays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Halloweenie at Granville Island

  • What: Halloweenie is perfect for young children who don’t like the spooky side of Halloween, but love celebrating the holiday nonetheless. Plus, there isn’t a kid out there who hasn’t fallen in love with the Kids Market.
  • Where: Granville Island Kids Market – 1496 Cartwright Street, Vancouver
  • When: Saturday, October 31; noon to 3 p.m.

Ghost Train in Stanley Park

  • What: The spooky spectacle for kids and fun-loving grown-ups runs in Stanley Park every October. This year’s theme, Horror Classics, brings back some of cinema’s most haunting characters like Dracula, Frankenstein and the Phantom of the Opera to roam the grounds around the train. Life-like decorations, sound effects and spooky lighting bring the Ghost Train to life every year. Certain train trips will include live theatrical performances from actors, making the experience a touch more scary for the braver passengers aboard.
  • Where: Stanley Park Train – Pipeline Road, Stanley Park (just north of the bus loop)
  • When: Friday, October 9 to Sunday, November 1; Monday to Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday to Sunday,  11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Pumpkin Express

  • What: Held at Bear Creek Park, the Pumpkin Express is a Halloween celebration for all ages, with food, arts, crafts, and activities under a tent on the train’s platform. Every kid that comes will get a treat for the ride and a child-sized pumpkin (sized for children, not the size of children) to remember the day.
  • Where: Bear Creek Park – 13750 88th Avenue, Surrey
  • When: October 9 to October 31; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Haunted Swamp House

  • What: The Swamp House comprises of between seven or eight rooms, themed after the cannibal infested, hillbilly-murderer settled swamps so common in horror movies.
  • Where: 4120 228 Street, Langley
  • When: October 28 to October 31: 6:30 to 10 p.m.

Parade of Lost Souls

  • What: Hosted by the Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret, the Parade of the Lost Souls is one of the most anticipated events of the Halloween season. Featuring jugglers, actors, singers, musicians, acrobats, and more, the Parade serves as an inclusive celebration of the arts for thousands of spectators each year.
  • Where: TBA
  • When: Saturday, October 31; 7 to 10 p.m.

Vancouver SkyTrain Halloween Party 2015

  • What: Presented by the Vancouver Public Space Network, the SkyTrain Halloween Party is a decentralized community public space event, featuring costumes, candy, and even a live DJ all across Vancouver’s light rail system.
  • Where: Starts at Waterfront Station
  • When: Saturday, October 31; 8 p.m.

Dooms Night 2015

  • What: It’s what you’ve all been waiting patiently for. Vancouver, the FINAL lineup has arrived! Solid Events presents to you #DOOMSNIGHT2015 with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, W&W, KSHMR in his EXCLUSIVE Canadian Debut, Frontliner, Goshfather & Jinco and DAIJO. Celebrate this annual Halloween tradition on October 31.

Halloween Costume Ball

  • What: Science World comes alive for the 9th annual Costume Ball. This year’s party will feature 2 rooms of music on 2 floors, a hell-raising sound and lighting system, 6 DJs and performers, 5 fully licensed bars, and 1,100+ costumed attendees
  • Where: TELUS World of Science – 1455 Quebec Street, Vancouver
  • When: Saturday, October 31; 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
