A major expansion of Park Royal shopping centre at West Vancouver is scheduled to open next Thursday, October 15, bringing in 14 new shops and dining venues.

The centrepiece of the expansion is the opening of Metro Vancouver’s first La Maison Simons’ store, also known simply as ‘Simons’. The 175-year-old, Quebec-based high-end fashion retailer has spent $25 million to construct a new 100,000-square-foot, two-storey store at Park Royal South.

“A tremendous amount of work has gone into these latest improvements at Park Royal and we greatly appreciate the efforts of everyone involved and the support from our customers and retailers during this transition period,” said Rick Amantea, Park Royal’s vice-president of community partnerships and development.

“We are confident that our neighbours and customers will be very excited about the new Park Royal South look and feel, and this next stage in our long history as a proud member of the North Shore community.”

Similar to the recently opened Nordstrom flagship store in downtown Vancouver, the Simons retail brand places a great focus on customer experience, with the inclusion of innovative architecture and interior designs, locally commissioned public art and a dining venue.

The women’s fashion department is located on the first floor while the men’s fashion section is upstairs on the second floor. A 50-seat in-store cafe offers a French-Canadian inspired menu, such as bagels, French onion soup, chicken fricasse, and a seating area with views of the Lions Gate Bridge and Ambleside Park.

La Maison Simons at Park Royal will open on Thursday, October 15 at 9:30 a.m.

Other improvements and expansions to Park Royal also include an expanded food court and dining experience, new grocery store, an expanded shopping experience, a new four-level 1,000 stall parkade, and green spaces.

Park Royal is Metro Vancouver’s second largest shopping centre with over 300 stores and services over 1.3 million square feet of floor area.
