Canucks vs Sharks Game Day Report: Back on home ice

Comments
Canucks Game Day Sharks

Hockey returns to Rogers Arena with the Canucks taking on the San Jose Sharks for the second time in consecutive nights.

The Canucks and Sharks will look to shake some of that rust off and provide a better game than the 1-0 Canucks win that was witnessed last night in Colwood.

Game Time: 7:00 pm

TV: Sportsnet

Last night the lone goal of the game came off the stick of newly signed hometown hero Adam Cracknell in our first glimpse of 3-on-3 overtime. Honestly, outside of that, not much else happened.

Storylines

1. Prospects in the spotlight

For the veterans, the preseason is little more than an annoying tune-up. For Canucks prospects, the preseason is everything.

Just ask Nicklas Jensen.

Twitter can be so unforgiving.

Keep your eyes on Hunter Shinkaruk, Jake Virtanen, Cole Cassels, and Jared McCann to make an impact in tonight’s game. While Virtanen appears to be a good bet to make the opening night roster, do not discount McCann as a player that Canucks brass may be forced to open a spot for.

2. Burrows and the kids

Alex Burrows will be on a line with Cole Cassels and Jake Virtanen tonight. That’s an intriguing mix of skill and grit that’s sure to get under the skin of the Sharks.

3. A time to rekindle rivalries

Apparently the Canucks and Sharks are on friendly terms right now, but it won’t take long before the heated rivalry is rekindled. You have to admire the Sharks though for their mutual hatred of all things Edmonton Oilers.

Lineup

Everyone that sat out of yesterday’s game on the island will get into the action tonight, with the exception of defenceman Ben Hutton.

D. Sedin H. Sedin Kenins
Burrows Cassels Virtanen
Prust Vey Dorsett
Shinkaruk McCann Friesen
               Hamhuis Weber
               Hutton Fedun
               Pedan Corrado
                                Miller

Prediction

Expect a higher tempo game with a lot more goals than last night with some big names in both the Canucks and Sharks lineups. The Sharks take this one 6-4, but Jake Virtanen wins over the hearts of Canucks fans with a Gordie Howe hat trick.
