Taiwanese boy trips, damages painting worth $1.5 million (VIDEO)

Apparently putting clumsy boys near priceless paintings from the 17th century is a recipe for disaster – who knew?

A 12-year-old boy from Taiwan is likely feeling a little guilty after tripping over a display and punching a hole in an oil painting by Paolo Porpora worth around $1.5 million.

In the security footage released on YouTube, he appears to try and stabilize himself after losing his balance and ends up damaging the priceless work of art.

Taiwanese media is reporting that the family won’t be on the hook for the damages and that insurance should take care of it. The painting will be repaired in Taipei before being sent back to Italy.

It’s unclear why a painting worth millions wasn’t behind a glass enclosure.
