RCMP have charged a 20-year-old man from Nova Scotia with sexual assault, following an incident on a flight from Calgary to Halifax on Tuesday, August 11.

The victim is a 69-year-old woman from B.C., who is alleged to have been assaulted by the young man sitting next to her on the flight, Corporal Greg Church of the Halifax RCMP told Vancity Buzz.

When the flight arrived, said Corporal Church, RCMP from Halifax Stanfield International Airport boarded the plane and arrested the man.

Later on that evening, he was released from police custody on the promise to appear for an undertaking. He will appear in Nova Scotia Provincial Court on October 21.

RCMP have released no further details on the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
