Police investigate fatal stabbing, sexual assault in Surrey

One man is dead in Surrey following a double stabbing incident early Wednesday evening.

According to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), the stabbing occurred at 5:30 p.m. near Hansen and Grosvenor roads. Two people were stabbed, with one man transported to hospital for life-threatening injuries and another declared deceased at the scene of the incident.

Police have arrested one person in relation to the incident. Limited details are available as the investigation is still in its early stages.

Meanwhile, Surrey RCMP are also investigating the sexual assault of an elderly woman in her own home on Wednesday.

At approximately noon at a residence located on 28th Avenue near 167th Street, a young man with a weapon entered the home and restrained a 70-year-old woman.

When she was unable to provide the man with cash and other valuables, the man physically and sexually assaulted the woman.

Eventually, she was able to free herself from the restraints and call police. She is now in hospital receiving treatment for significant but non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect in the incident is described to be a male between 20 to 30 years old and between 5’8″ to 6′ tall.
