Search and rescue crews are sweeping Harrison Lake, looking for a missing person in the icy waters.

According to a report by CTV News, a group of boaters recovered a man earlier in the afternoon, but a second person has yet to be found.

“We threw our life jacket to him and then we threw some rope to him,” one boater told CTV News. “We got him in the back of our boat, he could barely sit up. [He] threw up all over the back of our boat. Yeah, pretty scary.”

Ambulances were called to Harrison Lake at about 3:40 p.m. on August 11.

The incident comes just days after the death of a woman in her 20s, who drowned in the glacier-fed body of water on Friday, August 7. In June, Gary Duong, 25, and Daniel Reid, 23 both died while swimming on one of the hottest days of the year.

This rash of deaths has renewed calls from the public for more signage surrounding the lake, highlighting the potential dangers of swimming in its waters.

Bob Reid, father of Daniel Reid, has been one of the loudest voices in the call for more safety measures following the death on Friday.

“Right now the only signs we see are for swimmers itch, and I mean, swimmer’s itch is not going to destroy any family. That water looks like any other lake, and it isn’t,” Reid told CKNW.

More information on the story as it develops.
