The first case involved an officer who failed to properly investigate a sexual assault allegation by not notifying the Ministry of Child and Family Services of the incident and failing to submit a Violent Crime Linkage Analysis System report within the first 24 days.

The officer also failed to notify the alleged victim that the investigation had finished and the reasons why.

Verbal and written reprimands were the officer’s punishments. The incident took place in January of 2013.

Another involved an officer who had been recently hired onto the force. Two days after his hiring, he had an argument with his girlfriend that escalated into domestic abuse. He was suspended for 10 days without pay, but ultimately submitted his resignation only 18 days after getting hired.

The last incident detailed an officer who stole from a container where members of the Street Crime Unit had been pooling money. The officer was fired and charged with two counts of Theft and one count of Breach of Trust.

Out of the 14 municipal police forces listed in the report, four of them had complaints of misconduct. A West Vancouver Police Officer was recently given a written reprimand and one day suspension when they showed up for duty drunk.

The Vancouver Police Department had two investigations in the report.
