West Vancouver RCMP said a man was arrested as part of their ongoing investigation into a suspicious fire that led to the damage of two homes.

Crews were called to Bellevue Avenue on July 6 to extinguish a fire at the first home. The flames later spread to a second home. Crews from three departments along with a fire boat appeared on the scene.

According to Constable Jeff Palmer, a 63-year-old West Vancouver resident was being interviewed as part of the arson investigation, when officers determined grounds to have him arrest regarding a separate investigation.

However, no suspects have been identified regarding the arson that led to two waterfront homes burning. West Vancouver police continue to liaise with the fire department and other specialist fire investigators.

Investigators have recommended a charge of public mischief against the arrested man, and he is to appear in the North Vancouver Provincial Court on August 26, 2015.

The West Vancouver Police Department would urge anyone who wishes to provide information anonymously to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and charge.
