VIVA Vancouver opens Robson Street "Porch Parade"

VIVA Vancouver has finished constructing its Robson Redux design for the summer.

Traffic was cut in the 800-block of Robson Street for the yearly Robson Redux, and the selected design of 2015 was the Porch Parade, an arrangement of front porches in vibrant colours. Construction began mid-June and the site opened July 1 for pedestrians to use.

The porches provide shade for those trying to get away from the heat. Once the set up is dismantled at the end of the summer, the porches will be donated to a local chapter of Habitat for Humanity for their next home builds.

Honourable mentions for this year were the “Robson Reclaimed” and the “Greenest Block” designs.
