The Air Quality Advisory that was issued by Metro Vancouver on July 6 is still in place, despite dissipation of some of the smoke lingering in the city.

This morning’s Air Quality Index is currently two, which is low risk, but more fine particulate matter from the wildfires burning across the province will move in later this afternoon, boosting it to six, which is moderate risk.

Below is a chart from Environment Canada showing the Air Quality Index from this morning on the left, and how it is expected to progress throughout the day:

Whistler is still considered high risk, with an Air Quality Index of 10, although it is expected to go down to moderate risk by tomorrow.

Metro Vancouver is continuing to advise people with chronic underlying health conditions and for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes, and lung or heart disease to remain indoors as much as possible while the advisory is in place.
