Keeping your office cool with Shade Works

moving

Earlier this year, we moved into a new space in the heart of downtown. As we continue to expand and grow to better serve the fine city of Vancouver, so does our team and office space. With the Vancity Buzz team in a bigger office, it was time for some upgrades.

Increased natural light in our space

The upgrades in décor, finishes and office space made adapting to the new environment very easy for our staff- and one of the most exciting new features is the amount of windows we now have. The windows line the entire north side of the building and two sides of our boardroom, offering eye-catching views of Burrard Inlet. Plus, having more natural light has definitely made the space more pleasant and enjoyable to work in.

With so much sunlight entering the office we needed to find a way to harness the light while also reducing some of the heating or cooling costs, as well as minimize the nuisance of of computer screen glare.

To help us, we reached out to our friends at Shade Works Window Fashions, who came up with the perfect solution. Having worked with this local Canadian company in the past, it was an easy decision to work with them again. They make the entire process easy and simple, and provided a flawless solution for every scenario.

After meeting with their experienced team we felt confident in selecting the most suitable window treatments for our new office.

Our new window shades

Following our consultation, we decided on a 3% Basic Solar Roller Shades from Shade Works Zenith Collection in grey, which look and function really well – exactly what we were looking for. The neutral grey colour provides just the right amount of reflection, helping reduce the heat entering into the office. In addition to lowering our cooling costs, these shades also cut the glare caused by the excess sunlight from the north-facing windows. The combined features of preserving our view, reducing heat, and glare protection makes these Solar Roller Shades a perfect match for our office. Our staff can still enjoy a nice view out of the windows without compromising their comfort.

We have already cut back on our cooling costs this past month, and our staff walk around more energized from all the natural light. The benefits of having these new shades in our office are exactly why we’d recommend other businesses to re-evaluate their current window treatments.
