Former Vancouver Police Department Chief Constable Jim Chu is making a foray into the business world. Chu is joining the Aquilini Investment Group as Vice President of Special Projects and Partnerships.

“We’re proud to welcome Jim to the team,” said David Negrin, President of Aquilini Development and Construction Inc, in a statement.

“He is a highly effective leader that has demonstrated a tremendous capacity for consensus building through his work in the community.”

Most notably, Chu will be working with First Nations groups across B.C. to “ensure safety standards are upheld and meaningful projects developed” when it comes to agricultural, energy, and development projects involving the Aquilini Group.

“His proven leadership experience, prominence in the community, and business acumen make him an ideal candidate for the job,” said Negrin.

Chu was the first non-white Vancouver Police Chief and is “an innovative and progressive leader.” He worked with people overcoming mental health issues, dealt with gang violence, and reduced cost-overruns.

Chu worked with the Vancouver Police Department for 36 years.
