Sure, you can pour a little booze in your coffee to warm things up a bit, or you can time travel back a couple of decades to when all manners of sugary-sweet “martinis” were the rage and have a coffee martini, or you can get with the times and imbibe a cocktail made with cold coffee or espresso.

These drinks are popping up more and more lately, so here is our list of five coffee cocktails to try right now in Vancouver.

Amaro et Café at Royal Dinette

The newest kid on the downtown restaurant block is Royal Dinette, where Bar Manager Wendy McGuinness is behind a fun list of drinks, including the Amaro et Cafe, which pairs Elysian cold brew coffee with Amaro Montenegro and orange.

Amphibious at UVA

Award-winning bartender Lauren Mote heads up the cocktail realm at UVA, where here Amphibious is on the menu as “shaken, neat, assertive.” The drink features Lemon Hart Navy spiced rum, yellow chartreuse, red berry tonic, fresh espresso, and Moondog bitters.

Forbidden Cold Brew at Giovane at Fairmont Pacific Rim

Portland-born Stumptown Coffee’s signature Nitro Cold Brew is available exclusively at Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim’s Giovane Café. For the summer, the Pacific Rim’s Head Bartender, Grant Sceney, created a pair of drinks, one that’s adults-only, to showcase its flavours. The Forbidden Cold Brew cocktail features Fee Brothers chocolate bitters, housemade root beer, Stumptown Nitro Cold Brew, and Bacardi 8 Year Old Rum.
