Christy Clark heading to Pemberton to speak about B.C. wildfires

After receiving heavy criticism online for her silence on the wildfires raging through B.C., Christy Clark plans to speak on the subject in Pemberton on Wednesday.

Clark, along with Forests Minister Steve Thomson and MLA Jordan Sturdy, will be at Pemberton fire base at 2 p.m. to provide an update on the situation.

People took to Twitter with the hashtag #FindChristyClark after several days of silence on her social media:

There are currently over 180 forest fires burning throughout the province, 67 of which are 10 hectares or moreThe Elaho Wildfire, which is 67 kilometres west of Pemberton, is 0% contained and covers 20,000 hectares.

The unusually hot, dry weather has been the cause of the fires, but Metro Vancouver has rain in the forecast for Sunday and Monday.
