An RCMP dive team recovered the body of a 20-year-old man from Albert Dyck lake in Abbotsford this morning.

The man went missing at around 8:15 p.m. last night, slipping under the north point of Albert Dyck lake and disappearing while swimming with friends.

Emergency services were called to the scene and searched for the man for several hours, before calling off the search due to visibility issues and safety concerns for emergency crews in the water.

Officials say the section of the lake where the man went missing is off limits for swimming, due to the fact that it drops off sharply several metres from shore.

The lake, located near Abbotsford International Airport, was temporarily closed while the search was underway. It has since reopened to the public.
