Making money is a large part of growing your wealth or making ends meet in tight months. Earning extra cash can take on a variety of forms – from opportunities that allow you to make money quickly to those that are more timely involved.

The good new for us today is that there is a wide range of ways to make money that weren’t around even a few years ago; we may already be skilled in certain areas that could easily translate into a nice side (or main) income.

Check out the ideas below. Some may not be a good fit, but some of the ideas may be perfect for you.

Rent out your home

AirBnB is a site that allows you to rent out your home to other people who want to visit your city. You can rent it out for as little or as much as you want and can list the rent by night, week or month. This is also a great way to offset the costs of any trips you are planning on taking by renting it out while you are out of town. They also have a renter rating system, so you can choose whether or not you want to rent it out to a particular renter.

Expected Income: $75+/night depending upon your location and apartment.

Cuddling

CuddleUp, a Vancouver-based online portal connecting users with cuddlers, is encouraging members to shift their mindset about reaching out for a cuddle with strangers. It may seem unusual at first, but with our independent lifestyles, many are lacking a real human connection.

You can signup at CuddleUp and offer your services as a Cuddler for hire. CuddleUp lists a typical cuddle date as cuddling on a couch while watching a movie.

Check out CuddleUp and become a cuddler.

Expected Income: $50-100/hour

Sell your closet

Do you have a closet full of old clothes that you don’t wear anymore? Over time, our closets become a place where our clothing goes to die, but a place you can go to revive them and sell them for some extra cash is online consignment stores. You can easily sell your gently worn fashion items on a site like Trend Trunk.

Expected Income: Depends upon your closet, you set the price you would like to receive for your clothing and 100% of the selling price goes back to you.

Get paid to post

Did you know that advertisers will pay you to send out updates about their product? As you can imagine, the bigger your audience, the more you will get paid. Websites like Sponsored Tweets are ad services that allows you to set your own price-per-click for brand ads that you post to your social media accounts.

Expected Income: Up to $0.20 per click

Sell your digital photos

Making money as a photographer has become easier over the last decade. There are now lots of sites, like Shutterstock, looking to buy digital photos from professional and amateur photographers. As with most things, the better you are, the more money you will make, but it can be a nice passive income if you work at it.

Expected Income: 15–45% royalty for each photo download

This just scratches the surface, but the point is that there are many ways you can make extra cash this summer, from tried and true options like yard work and dog walking to new online innovations like CuddleUp. The key is to keep your eyes open for opportunities and then turn around and monetize them.
