Vancouver Golden Dumpling Cook Off and Derby returns on August 9

Dumpling aficionados should prepare themselves to feast, as the third annual Golden Dumpling Cook Off and Derby returns to Vancouver.

More than 13,000 dumplings are expected to fill happy, hungry tummies at this years event, which will take place on August 9.

Held at the Food Truck Fest, located at 215 West 1st Avenue, a brand new location for the event, seventeen of Vancouver’s top restaurants will battle it out in this years cook off for the chance to win the Golden Dumpling trophy.

Competing to fill, wrap, steam and fry their way to the top are: Maenam (reigning champion), The Acorn, Anna Lena, Au Comptoir,Bestie, Chicha, Cibo, Cinara, Fable, Harvest,  Gyoza Bar,  La Mezcaleria, Pidgin, Sai Woo, Tableau, Wildebeest, and The Union.

Attendees to this outdoor food festival can pre-purchase a $55 Dumpling Passport, which will allow them to visit each of the seventeen restaurant stations to receive a stamp for a fresh, hot, plump dumpling, as well as refreshments from Red Truck and Happy Planet.

Also, not to be missed, is the Dumpling Derby eating contest where contestants face off against each other in a battle of the biggest stomachs.

All Dumpling Passport proceeds benefit the Chinese Elders Community Kitchen.
