Downtown Vancouver’s skyline has a new beautiful addition.

The $750-million, 22-storey TELUS Garden office and residential development is rolling through the final phases of construction.

The office building component of the city-block sized project will hold the new headquarters of TELUS as well as office space for Amazon Canada and law firm Bull Housser.

It boasts a raised floor system which draws 100 per cent fresh air for ventilation and four storey protruding ‘sky gardens’ on the Seymour Street and Richards Streets sides of the building.

Approximately 100 solar panels on the ‘rooftop forest’ power elements of the building’s infrastructure while heat waste created during development will be cycled back into the building, reducing power needs for heating and cooling by 80 per cent.

All of these green designs have enabled TELUS Garden to be the first office building in Canada to meet a LEED Platinum standard.

The office tower is estimated to be complete in late 2015, with TELUS, Amazon, and Bull Housser moving their employees into the building over the coming weeks and months.

Some residents of the adjacent 53-storey, 424 unit residential tower will also commence their occupancy this summer. The condo tower’s lower floors are completed and ready for habitation, with the rest of the tower expected to be completed between December 2015 and March 2016.

Glowbal Collection’s new flagship restaurant on the podium of the office tower is scheduled to open later this year.
