Vancouver is abuzz with chatter from fashionistas seeking the best deals on the must-have pieces for the summer and VCB is tracking down the crème de la crème of luxury resellers. Over the next five weeks we will introduce you to the haute-est spots to get that signature piece that will guarantee all eyes are on you!
Introducing the newest boutique on the block – Modaselle – with gorgeous goodies ranging in price from $100 to $5K to $10K+.
Recently they expanded their online store to a boutique on Seymour, in the retail space previously occupied by XiXo Apparel, and are establishing themselves as the premiere location for handbags.
Modaselle is nestled almost anonymously near Nelson Street. They specialize in luxury handbags, jewelry and watches of the highest quality and offer a very diverse selection. The items are displayed up to the ceiling in dark wood shelving with the lift alarms and security links anchored to the walls. Customers can look, but do not touch without the assistance of staff.
Owner Alex Jane hails from Richmond. He has over a decade of experience dealing with life’s finer offerings through his family business and is an expert when it comes to authenticating. A strict anti-counterfeit stance is first and foremost with this boutique owner, and if you are thinking of selling without proper paperwork, think again. Customers of this boutique can shop knowing they are purchasing the real thing in amazing condition at a fair price.
What was the catalyst for opening a brick and mortar store?
We had a lot of great feedback from our e-commerce store during the couple of years, and we wanted to understand what it is our customers look for when shopping or selling high end merchandise. We realized authenticity and trust are very important. Having a retail store our customers in Vancouver can come to and see who we are, browse the products and put a face to the name strengthens that trust and relationship.
What is the most popular brand in the store as compared to online?
Obviously Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermes are always big interest items. That said, we’ve been getting a lot of people asking about designers like Proenza Schouler, Phillip Lim, Alexander McQueen and others.
Satisfy your summer thirst for Tiffany, Balenciaga, Gucci, Dior and more at Modaselle, Monday to Saturday, at 943 Seymour Street and let them know you read about them here.
Next Wednesday, we cover our visit to Once Again Resale and interview owner Angel Hung about her boutique on West 1st and why there is a baby grand piano in the middle of it!
