Highlights from day one at Malkin Bowl included sets by Montreal’s Elephant Stone, Vancouver’s Black Mountain and Atlanta’s The Black Lips. The grounds outside the main stage were decorated with textile-draped teepees and tents where people could explore and relax. The Eastside Flea also partnered up with Levitation this year to curate an eclectic open air market selling everything from re-worked vintage to records and hand made zines.

Our night ended at one of the offsite venues, the Rickshaw, where we caught performances from experimental electronic artists Blackbird Blackbird and Shigeto before seeing digital psych-funk artist Tobacco.

Highlights from day two at Malkin Bowl included sets by Beach Fossils from Brooklyn, Witch from Vermont and Massachusetts, and The Black Angels from Austin, Texas. Festivals like Levitation are vital to supporting and celebrating the diversity within Vancouver’s music scene. We’re already looking forward to what next year will bring.
