Vancouver Police have released images of a suspect in a November 2014 assault case that involved a 59-year-old man being attacked at home by a possible Craigslist buyer.

Police report the man was severely attacked at 5:35 p.m. on November 11, 2014 at his home in East Vancouver, resulting in life-altering injuries. The alleged suspect was responding to a Craigslist ad for the sale of inexpensive jewellery when he seriously beat the victim until he was unconscious, leaving severe head and facial trauma.

The suspect may have believed the victim’s jewellery was valuable, according to VPD.

Police have now acquired surveillance footage of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him. The suspect is described as white, 25 to 30 years old, 5’9″, with a medium build, and wearing the following:

  • black baseball hat with green brim and yellow “DC” logo
  • dark jacket with grey hoody underneath
  • black track pants with thick white stripe down the side
  • white runners with black laces, carrying an empty brown bag

Police say they would like to speak with the male depicted in the photo. Anyone with information about this attack, or who might know the identity of the suspect, is asked to call the VPD Robbery Unit at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
