Canadian tennis has reached a new height as new ATP rankings released today have Milos Raonic up two spots to Number 4 in the world, the highest ranking ever for a Canadian singles player.

However, Raonic tweeted on Saturday that he would miss his next ATP tournament, the BNL d’Italia in Rome, in order to repair a nerve in his foot, meaning that the new ranking won’t last long. Raonic will drop down two spots, seeing Tomas Berdych and Kei Nishikori pass him, and could go as low as Number 8 after the tournament.

The Thornhill, Ontario native fell in straight sets to Andy Murray in the Madrid Open semifinals on Friday.
