A Kamloops woman has been convicted of stealing an elderly man’s identity to have a number of cosmetic procedures done, including breast implants, liposuction and a tummy tuck.

According to Kamloops This Week, Brandie Bloor, 39, could face up to a year in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of fraud over $5,000 in provincial court yesterday.

An investigation was launched in 2014 after an 83-year-old man received a letter from a loan company saying he was behind on paying back a $15,000 loan he had cosigned with Bloor. He said he didn’t know anyone named Brandie Bloor and that he couldn’t recall making the loan.

“He was surprised and confused when he received the letter,” says Crown Prosecutor Katie Bouchard, according to Kamloops This Week.

Investigators questioned Bloor, but she denied everything, even insisting she hadn’t had any of the surgeries and that she was a victim of stolen identity as well.

“She was very adamant that she had been a victim of this crime – so much so that officers interviewing her believed her.”

When investigators interviewed the doctor who performed the surgeries, he stated Bloor had a rose tattoo on her stomach – and it took asking her to lift up her shirt for her to admit to having the surgeries.

She then changed her story, saying she was working as an escort and the man was a client who had bought her the surgeries as a generous gift.

Her claim was disproved when investigators matched the drivers license number on the loan application to one that had been reported stolen by the elderly victim in 2010.

Bloor has a long criminal record attached to her name, with 15 convictions for forgery. She had two additional charges of forgery related to this incident that were dropped in exchange for a guilty plea.
