The styles we spotted on the runway last season made a refreshing appearance outside of Eco Fashion Week just in time for spring. Touches of fringe were injecting movement into the street style scene while the most fashionable guests were shaking up the shape of their pants in bellbottoms and culottes.
Two of our industry heavyweights – Myriam Laroche, founder of Eco Fashion Week and Sue Randhawa, owner of The Optical Boutique – both opted for mid-length skirts in the most powerful hue of yellow, proving that primarys are worthy of spring fever too. On the other side of the colour spectrum, muted lilacs were being substituted for pastels. Black also made a bold yet more sparse appearance with looks so sharp they could kill (à la Evan Ducharme style).
Alexa Suter of Sutie Skirts and Anna Chau of Sidebuy showed up in breezy skirts that felt effortlessly fresh for the season while fashion blogger, Lorraine Stoodley went for a palm tree print so exotic it could turn any strip of Vancouver pavement into a tropical retreat. Jerome Insorio of Label Deficiency took casual meets formal to the next level by adding in the season’s necktie for good measure. Jackets just about everywhere were draped in honour of a warmer, more chic and carefree season.
Ahead, we’ve rounded up 45+ of our favourite looks from the sustainable streets outside of Eco Fashion Week.
