CBC Calgary 'accidentally' predicts Canucks series win on Twitter

Exactly four minutes after the final horns blew at Rogers Arena last night, CBC’s Calgary bureau tweeted a message that insulted the Vancouver Canucks and their fans.

The tweet was removed within minutes, but there were plenty of eyes on social media following the Vancouver win to screenshot the tweet directed at the official account of the Vancouver Canucks:

“Your boys are coming back to our house. And we won’t need the riot police on hand to console devastated Flames fans…”

But is this really an insult? After all, taken from another angle it seems that CBC Calgary is predicting a Canucks win in this series.

This was followed by another tweet at 9:52 p.m. PST by an individual who claimed responsibility over the blunder, which appears to have been the result of the individual forgetting to switch back to their own personal Twitter accounts.

Apparently, the individual was in the middle of an exchange with their counterparts at CBC British Columbia in Vancouver.

Everyone makes mistakes, but the apologies went mostly unnoticed on Twitter with a flood of enraged Canucks fans harping on the taxpayer-funded organization’s mistake.
