The 2015 TED Conference, the second one to be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, begins next week with a line up of experts in the arts and sciences.

The well-known event – with tagline “Truth or Dare” – begins on March 16 and runs through to Friday, March 20. While the conference’s line-up doesn’t boast a list of very well-known names, the speakers “will be questioning received wisdom in search of deeper truth, richer understanding, better questions — and sharing their visions with us,” says the TED blog.

Neurologists, astronauts, authors, mathematicians and engineers are just some of the impressive titles that will grace the TED stage next week. However, one name in particular is perking the ears of pop-culturalists – Monica Lewinsky.

Her name brings up the nostalgic memory of the 1998 media scrutiny and scandal splashed across the tabloids when then President Bill Clinton was impeached for perjury after lying about his “improper” relationship with Lewinsky, White House intern.

Since the scandal, Lewinsky has stepped away from the spotlight and earned a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics. In 2014, she reappeared in media reports as an advocate against cyberbullying.

Her speech at this year’s TED Conference will advocate for a “safer and more empathic social media environment” by drawing on her unique experiences. She is speaking on Thursday, March 19.
