Delicious cookies are fueling the entrepreneurial and community activism spirit of six Kwantlen Polytechnic University fourth year marketing students as they use the venture as a vehicle to support the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

Short & Sweet began as a project for meeting graduation requirements but now has the heart and dedication of supporting the less fortunate in the community.

“Donating the profits from these delicious cookies was a natural decision. It is always better to share the sweetness of life with others,” says Sean Bindra (CEO). The GVFB has taken on a great initiative to nourish and provide healthy food to the community. For each dollar S&S donates, the GVFB will be able to purchase $3 worth of food. “On behalf of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, we are thankful to S&S for their generous donation” says Glenda Morin, Community Events Coordinator. S&S is also committed to supporting future entrepreneurs and current KPU students as the organization will be donating its remaining profits to the Kwantlen Venture Fund.

S&S produces a win-win-win situation for everyone involved. “Not only are community members investing in delicious cookies, but they will also be helping support the education of students and the efforts of the GVFB” says Bindra. With all the proceeds going towards great causes, and all the satisfaction and indulgence going towards the customers, S&S is committed to making this world a little bit sweeter.

The team behind the conceptualization of S&S includes Sean Bindra, Jailum Bhandar, Samantha Williams, Leon Girling, Kris Moore, and Keith Thomas.

With the student-run business operating until March 22nd, S&S is hopeful that community members will purchase its cookies and provide support for their initiatives.
