Number e foods

For over 30 years, Glenn Saunders has been making food for friends, family and guests of various restaurants. Since the age of 15, Saunders has worked almost every role there is to work in a restaurant. His experience has taught him that if you provide good food and friendly service, you can create an everlasting memory.

Number e foods (or “#e” as it appears on the storefront signage) is a place you’ll most likely put on speed dial after you visit. Saunders makes everything onsite, daily and right before your eyes.

With no freezer, microwave or artificial flavours, Number e promises to always be fresh and homemade. This throwback to a local market place is where members of the community come to sit and enjoy food.

Takeaway options include wholesome soups or meals in the #e 2 go fridge. For those looking to sit at the bar, you’ll be happy to have an engaging experience with a seasoned chef and restauranteur. Over the past two years, locals have fallen in love with #e. You will most likely here something along the lines of “Luke, how are you? Want your usual today?” As many locals have come to #e their number one sandwich spot.

The handmade bread that holds these incredible sandwiches together has become Saunders’ legacy. Each batch of dough is pounded (or #-ed) and married from its previous batch. This traditional process allows for a rich flavour and heartfelt character. The top-rated reuben sandwich is an open-faced gem that rests upon a Bohemian rye bread that comes from a family recipe Saunders holds dearly. Every sandwich or flatbread created at Number e is carefully prepared with care and respect.

Saunders believes that cities don’t change much over time, that it’s the people that change the city. By creating a place that unites a community, people become more connected, friendly and happy. A traditional-style place with innovative food can be exactly what this part of town has been waiting for.

Saunders named the place after another restaurant that he enjoyed for this very reason. After visit a place in Ottawa, Ontario, Saunders noticed that all the combos were labeled #a, b, c, etc. Having enjoyed this moment so much, he carried this memory with him for years before opening his own place.
