An eyewitness account of an alleged sexual assault on SkyTrain’s Canada Line has gone viral on social media.

A reader-submitted post on UBC Confessions, a Facebook page where UBC students anonymously submit their confessions to the page administrator for others to see, details an incident that occurred on Thursday morning at approximately 8:20 a.m. between Aberdeen and Bridgeport stations in Richmond.

The post alleges that a middle-aged Asian male was ‘feeling and rubbing’ the leg and buttocks of a young Asian woman between the ages of 18 to 25 years old. Both individuals were standing around the doorway yellow poles near the front of the inbound train.

“I saw you moving away from him, I could tell that you were visible uncomfortable,” reads the post.

The witness, who was commuting to UBC, took a below-the-waist photo of both individuals and reported the incident to police upon exiting the train at Bridgeport Station. However, the victim remained on the train heading to Vancouver.

At the time of the incident, the Asian male is described to have been wearing a green army camouflage jacket and blue jeans.

“The police took all his information and I filed a complaint,” the witness writes. “So if you can identify yourself, the policeman said he will press charges since he has all the information on file.”

“Please don’t ignore the issue, we should not condone his actions. I know you were scared to speak up, I hope you’re okay.”

At the time of this article’s publication, the Facebook post has already received more than 5,300 likes and nearly 900 shares.

UPDATE: In a released statement, Transit Police said their officers requested the suspect to step out of a bus line and provide identification. However, because the victim had not been identified, the suspect was permitted to leave the scene as further investigation was required.

Police would like to speak to the victim in order to proceed with the investigation and charges. A more detailed description indicates the victim is an Asian female, 18 to 25 years old, 5’7″ tall, slender build with black hair and straight bangs. She was wearing a grey wool sweater, black t-shirt, ripped black jeans and carrying a Gucci backpack and a pink iPhone.

“We would like to commend and thank the witness for contacting police when she encountered a crime on the transit system,” reads the statement. “We want victims to know that we take these incidents very seriously and investigate thoroughly. Our officers are trained to assist individuals through what can be a difficult process.”

Dear girl on skytrain,

Thursday morning at 8:20 am I saw the guy that was sexually harassing you. He was feeling and rubbing the back of your right leg and butt with his left hand, moving up and down. We were on the Richmond-Brighouse to waterfront skytrain around the Aberdeen and Bridgeport station. You didn’t get on the skytrain until the Lansdowne/Aberdeen station standing near the front at the yellow poles of the skytrain. You’re an Asian girl (around 18-25 years old), black hair with straight front bangs. You were wearing a gray wool cardigan with a black t-shirt and ripped black jeans with a Gucci backpack, LV wallet and pink iphone6. I saw you moving away from him, I could tell that you were visibly uncomfortable. I took a picture of him touching you and talked to the police right after I got off the skytrain at Bridgeport to UBC with the pervert. You didn’t get off the skytrain so I didn’t know where you were headed. The pervert was a middle aged tanned Asian man wearing a green army camouflage jacket and blue jeans. The police took his all information and I filed a complaint. So if you can identify yourself, the policeman said he will press charges since he has all the information on file. I have the policeman’s contact information and he will also be at the Bridgeport skytrain station again this time in the morning. Please don’t ignore this issue, we should not condone his actions.

I know you were scared to speak up, I hope you’re okay. (Please share this with friends because I’m not sure if the girl was a student or working).
