The Vancouver Police Department is investigating the city’s second homicide of 2015.

In a released issued this afternoon, VPD announced they are looking into the death of a 49 year-old male who was found bleeding and unresponsive on the Downtown East Side just after 4 a.m. on Friday morning.

Paramedics were alerted just before 4 a.m. and sent to Hastings near Columbia Street. The man was rushed to hospital and later died. The victim has been identified as Lorne Joseph Melting-Tallow, a Vancouver resident.

Police say the cause of death is not immediately apparent; however, an autopsy shows the death was a confirmed homicide. The VPD is now collecting evidence and speaking with witnesses to find out more about the suspicious death.

They are asking anyone with information about the murder to call Vancouver Police Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
