A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the abdomen on Sunday evening within the North Surrey neighbourhood.
The incident between a group of teenagers began approximately 6 p.m. at SkyTrain’s Gateway Station and continued near Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre, about one city block away. It is alleged that a 17-year-old girl stabbed the boy at the park.
Fortunately, the boy’s abdominal injuries were non-life threatening.
The girl was arrested by Surrey RCMP and faces charges of assault with a weapon and possessing a dangerous weapon. However, she has not been named by police as she is underage, although a judge could decide to try her as an adult.
Police are also seeking for two other teenagers who are believed to be involved in the incident: a girl from New Westminster and a boy from Vancouver.
Early Sunday morning just before 1 a.m., there was also a stabbing incident near SkyTrain’s Edmonds Station in Burnaby. One man was rushed to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries later on. The Burnaby incident is not believed to be related to the Surrey stabbing.
