The team at Vancouver tech startup Votely are looking to solve a complex problem with a simple tool. Winners of the Spring Prize for Best Purpose-Driven Startup and third place overall at Startup Weekend Vancouver earlier this month, the Votely team is developing a tool that allows young, disengaged voters to rapidly and intuitively get matched with political candidates whose views and priorities best align with their own.

Votely’s success in their local Startup Weekend contest means they’re on to the next round of Global Startup Battle via the Champions’ Track.

Although engaging youth voters in political elections is a complicated challenge that many others have tried to solve, Votely is taking a unique and innovative approach. The Votely platform will rely heavily on crowd-sourced data and publicly available records in order to be both scalable and politically neutral.
