A Vancouver-born actress and dancer was killed Monday morning in Los Angeles in an apparent murder-suicide.
Stephanie Elyse Moseley, 30, was found dead alongside her husband, rapper Earl Warren Hayes, 34, inside the couple’s apartment in an upscale residential area near The Grove shopping mall.
The Los Angeles Police Department says officers responded to a radio call of a shooting at about 7:30 a.m. Monday. Officers reported hearing additional shots fired upon their arrival at the upscale apartment complex.
The couple were soon identified in the media by a man named Burrell Wilks, “who described himself as Hayes’ life coach and close friend,” notes KTLA.
The LAPD’s initial investigation indicated Hayes fatally shot his wife, then turned the gun on himself. The couple were pronounced dead at the scene.
Hayes was a rapper who had been signed to boxer Floyd Mayweather’s label, and was known for partying with Mayweather. The rapper was allegedly upset by Moseley’s alleged infidelities, including a dalliance with rapper Trey Songz, reports TMZ. Songz tweeted on Monday:
R.I.P babygirl. Once an angel on earth, now watching over us from Heaven. You’ll b missed but never forgotten. Love

In a bizarre twist to the crime, TMZ also reports that Mayweather had been talking to Hayes using FaceTime Monday morning when Hayes became enraged about Moseley’s cheating. The gossip site reports via a Mayweather source: “Earl said he was going to kill his wife. The champ was pleading with him to get a grip … to no avail. Floyd will not say how much he saw, but he acknowledges he was a witness and heard everything.”
Moseley is being remembered locally for her talents and good nature. Rachel Poirier, who taught Moseley as a teen at a Burnaby dance studio told the CBC: “Steph was a true talent, very humble, gracious, and it’s just horrible.”
