Are you already looking to dispose of your Christmas tree? Over the coming week and a half, the University of British Columbia’s Botanical Garden will be accepting Christmas trees for recycling.

The trees will be chipped into mulch and used on kilometres of garden trails. A donation of $5.00 is recommended as all proceeds will go towards East Vancouver’s Sir Wilfred Grenfell Elementary School’s fund to construct a garden storage shed, amend soil, and purchase tools and supplies.

The school’s new garden is a project by the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation and the Christmas trees will be chipped by UBC Building Operations.

Prior to bringing your Christmas trees for chipping, please remove all decorations including tinsel. Note that yard trimmings are not permitted as they may contain invasive plants and can harm the botanical garden.
