Police channel Dr. Seuss in search for gift-stealing Grinches

The Vancouver Police Department is on the hunt for a pair of gift-stealing grinches who allegedly attacked a woman Sunday morning, and their quest for justice has been inspired by Dr. Seuss.

In a media release issued Monday, the VPD explains that the crime took place at about 10 a.m. Sunday on Adanac Street near Commercial Drive, when the 47-year-old victim was making her way home with a cart of gifts.

The victim was attacked from behind by two women who allegedly punched her in the face and knocked her to the ground. The assailants then took off with the victim’s wrapped Christmas gifts. The victim was treated for a minor abrasion to her chin.

Police are looking for the two young women, who were described as being 5’6″ tall, with heavy builds and dark hair.

However… in the spirit of Christmas, and all things wonderously Seussical, the VPD included in their release this delightful gem about a very mean-spirited crime:

As Dr. Seuss might have said…

It appears that the girls hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season!
Now, please don’t ask why. No one quite knows the reason.
It could be that the girls weren’t thinking quite right.
It could be, perhaps, that their shoes were too tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that their hearts were two sizes too small.

Well done, VPD! We hope your efforts, both crime-fighting and literary, are rewarded. And, please, if anyone has information about the robbery, please call the Vancouver Police at (604) 717-3321.
