Music festivals continue to dominate the global market each year. In fact, a study by EventBrite reveals that music festivals have surged in recent years with one in ten people having attended a music festival, and further to that – one in five millennials having attended one.  In Vancouver, the prevalence of the music festival is seeing just as much demand, with millennials continuing to drive the trend.

On December 26 and December 27, Blueprint, in partnership with Live Nation Canada, will once again be launching celebrations of their electronic music event  that is known across the pacific northwest: CONTACT Winter Music Festival. Now in its third year, CONTACT 2014 will return to BC Place where, for the first time, the demand for the festival – attracting tens of thousands of people each year – has it poised to sell out in advance.

Since launching in 2011, Blueprint has seen the CONTACT Festival grow exponentially – garnering a massive, collective fan-base of thirty-thousand online followers and music enthusiasts, and doubling in revenues. Blueprint believes a combination of factors have caused the CONTACT Winter Music Festival to become a local phenomenon, particularly amongst the millennial generation:

Production:

Last year, CONTACT wowed attendees with lighting – both inside and on the outside of the BC Place roof. This year, Blueprint will be investing hundreds of thousands, and more than three-times their original dollar spend into the production, including a second indoor stage, lighting (both inside and outside), 3D rendered animation, high-tech sound-systems and more. For the millennials, who are constantly engaged, content will be present at every available moment.

Social aspect:

Last year, Blueprint broke local social media records during CONTACT. This year, the social media team has expanded their channels of engagement and more than tripled their staff to handle the demands of CONTACT’s online following amongst platforms favoured by millenials, like Instagram & Snapchat. Year-round, the team has noted a significant and consistent spike in engagement in conjunction with each piece of CONTACT social content posted.

Artist line-up:

Millennials are constantly engaged in the newest, most popular and up and coming artists, and each year Blueprint continues to book the best in electronic artists for CONTACT. This year’s headliners include: Armin Van Buuren and Zedd plus the addition of a second stage this year to focus on more cutting edge and progressive acts like Kaytranada, Thomas Jack, Gramatik & more.

Alvaro Prol of Blueprint elaborates, “CONTACT has evolved into more than just a music festival – and especially amongst the millennial generation who are our most engaged fans. We’re now seeing them incorporating preparing and planning for CONTACT into their lifestyle goals months in advance – getting in shape, saving money, gathering up huge crews of friends to go with. I think we’ve really been able to open up people’s eyes to what we’re able to do with entertainment in the city”.
