Following public pressure from political opponents, particularly the Non-Partisan Association, the Vision Vancouver party today released its 2014 pre-election donor list.

From January 1 to October 31 of this year, Vision Vancouver raised a total of $2,251,348.17 in campaign funding from individual, corporate and union donors. Corporate donations account for 64 per cent ($1,437,880) of total donations received.

Some of the largest and most notable donations were from Lululemon founder Chip Wilson ($37,500), the Vancouver Canucks/Aquilini Corporation ($60,000), Magnum Projects ($75,000), the Vancouver Taxi Association ($53,000), and the Canadian Union of BC Employees ($226,000 through three union entities).

David Aisenstat, the owner of The Keg Restaurant, contributed $215,000 to Vision Vancouver through his personal funds ($100,000), the Charles F. White Corporation ($75,000), which he owns, and the restaurant chain itself ($40,000).

There are currently no limits on campaign donations and spending, although there are calls for the provincial government to enact legislation that will curb party finances.
